I have been sick.
I felt it coming on this past Friday but I had already RSVP’ed yes to my friend’s bridal shower and I definitely didn’t feel terrible enough to cancel at the last minute.
So I toughed it out, took some DayQuil, drank some wine, went for a run…
Yes, Saturday morning in my pre-sickness I went for a run in the country with my friend Bang. (not her real name – cause that would be weird).
I so rarely get the opportunity to run with friends from college because our usual go to is alcohol, not exercise, that I felt like I had to take advantage of the fact that I had a running buddy.
We ran through fall colored leaves, past donkeys grazing (either that or extremely fat, short, hairy horses, we couldn't decide) and through the smell of manure. It was super hilly – much different than my track runs. Plus, it was a bit humid out on Saturday.
Needless to say, I was pretty tired after our little 5K. I don’t think the fact that I couldn’t breath out of my nose helped my cause at all.
I spent the rest of my Saturday catching up with friends, watching the bride-to-be open presents (a lot of presents!) and playing card games that I have not played since college.
It was pretty great.
Until Sunday morning, when I woke up with a full blown cold. (and apparently kept everyone up the night before with my snoring).
I was completely congested, sneezy, headachy and a tad hung-over. And then it took me 3 hours to get back to my apartment. Sunday Funday…not so much.
Although I did come home to this:
My husband is awesome. & yes, those are packets of Advil on my pillow.
I spent the rest of Sunday laying around in my makeshift bed watching the Eagles beat up on the Giants. Maybe there was a little bit of fun in my Sunday
I woke up on Monday – wanting to stay in bed forever but knowing that I had a ton of work that needed to get done at work. Oh to be unemployed…just kidding.
Today and Monday have been extremely tiring which doesn’t exactly help with recovering from my cold.
I have been drinking a ton of fluids, eating soup and taking the maximum amount of Airbourne allowed.
So while I have nothing too exciting to report, I figured I would still check in.
Any other “get better quick” tricks that you think might help?! I would greatly appreciate it!
