This past weekend my friend Britt invited me down to Ocean City, New Jersey where her parents have a house. I haven’t been to the beach all summer (besides my amazing Greece trip, of course) so I immediately said yes! I was bummed that BLC wouldn’t be able to join (he is visiting family in California) but I still knew it would be a good time.
I took the Bolt Bus down to Philadelphia with two other girlfriends on Friday night. It was running late so we didn’t get down to Philly until about 8:45pm. When we got there my friend’s boyfriend picked us up and we headed straight to Jersey.
Luckily since it was the weekend after Labor Day there was zero traffic and we flew down the Atlantic City Expressway. Arrived in Ocean City, New Jersey to this:
Now that is an adult beer selection if I’ve ever seen one.
We drank, we played cards, we caught up. It was a pretty fabulous night.
We all woke up early (relatively) the next morning to go for a bike ride on the boardwalk to breakfast.
I obviously had a little anxiety considering the last time I rode a bike was in Aruba during a sprint triathlon where I ended up crashing into a curb and seriously injuring my pelvic bone.
But I survived! & actually had a great time once I got out of my head. Riding a beach cruiser on the boardwalk with the ocean in view…I could get used to that.
After the bike ride, we all got ready for the beach. I got ready super quick so that I could watch a bit of the Penn State football game while I waited for the rest of the group to get ready. Penn State kicked butt. Once I was sufficiently satisfied that they had the game in the bag, we all grabbed some chairs and walked the whole 2 blocks to the beach.
The weather was perfect. I am not a big fan of sweating on the beach so the fact that it was about 80 degrees with a constant breeze was pure heaven.
Plus, the beer didn’t hurt.
We played some beach games but mainly just sat in our little circle and chatted. It was pretty relaxing and overall wonderful.
Our group left the beach around 6ish.
We laid around the house (with the pug sisters) and slowly starting showering/getting ready.
We headed out to dinner around 9pm (very European, I know).
We went to a place called Baia in Somers Point which is right over the bay from Ocean City. It was a cute little restaurant but nothing to write home about. The company was much better than the food
After dinner we went straight back to the house and decided to have a photo shoot before playing more card games.
I have literally known all of these beautiful ladies for at least 15 years. So amazing that we were all able to get together and have such a great time.
We stayed up way too late. I guess we just like each other’s company.
Sunday was uneventful. I laid around with the pugs for a bit.
We left around 1:00PM after breakfast and a little cleaning. It was hard to say goodbye to everyone and head back to Brooklyn (slash reality). I truly wish weekends were longer.
Hope you all had a fabulous weekend!
