Restaurant Review – Fig & Olive
3 Aug
Last Friday BLC, my MIL & I went to Fig & Olive in the Meatpacking District of NYC for dinner. For those of you who don’t know, the Meatpacking District is full of fancy schmancy restaurants & clubs (that all used to be big meatpacking warehouses) & Fig & Olive was no exception.
Fig & Olive features mainly Mediterranean cuisine which is what initially drew me to make a reservation here. Plus, they have a wall of booze.
Now that’s class.
While our table was being set, we sat at the bar, people watched (lots of well-dressed people at this establishment) and ordered a drink.
I got the El Matador. Olay.
Tequila, rum, fresh lime juice, cilantro syrup & muddled jalapeƱo. If you like a little spice, this is the drink for you. It was excellent! Refreshing with a little zing. (side note: it was so good, I had two)
BLC got my usual go to – dirty martini.
Is that not the most beautiful dirty martini you have ever seen? Just me? Okay then…
We sat down at our table after a dude paid for his seltzer water with lime with a 100 dollar bill. Totally not making that up.
Because we aren’t millionaires & wanted to eat more than a side salad, we decided to take advantage of the Restaurant Week menu. Love Restaurant Week. Allowing poor people to eat like the rich for two weeks of the year
For my appetizer, I got the Salmon Crudo.
The salmon was super high quality & the addition of grapefruit really complemented the dish. The only downside was when BLC scolded me for eating the garnish. My bad.
BLC had the gazpacho & it was super tasty.
For my dinner, I had the Truffle Risotto. I typically order anything that has truffles in it because it is obviously the most expensive & the most delicious.
In this case, it was absolutely the most delicious. Probably one of the best dishes I have ever eaten. For real. It was creamy but not too heavy & there were little chunks of mushrooms throughout. Plus, it was topped with shaved parmesan. It was wonderful.
BLC had the Steak Tartar (which I obviously didn’t try) but he said he liked the risotto much more. I win
And the true reason why I came to Fig & Olive – the dessert.
We all got the Chocolate Pot de Creme.
We all loved it! It was chocolately but not too rich. We devoured it.
Overall verdict: if you have money, please check this place out!! Or just wait till next Restaurant Week
But for serious, everything was absolutely delicious including the alcoholic beverages.
& on another note, because I promised – here is day 2 of the Fitness Cheerleader’s August Healthy Living/Fitness Blogger Writing Challenge!
Do you workout in the morning or at night?
Because I am a super crazy procrastinator, I tend to workout at night (as well as blog at night…sorry, loves). I really would love to workout more often in the morning because I feel great all day knowing that my workout is out of the way.
Do you workout in the morning or at night? If you workout in the morning…please give me some tips!

I’ve had my eye on that place, I’ll have to try it for sure! I always order things with truffles too haha, just because they rock and make everything delicious.
